It’s never too late to achieve greatness

January 27, 2024

Do you ever feel like life has passed you by — like, you should have done something sooner, or maybe it’s too late for you to take control of your life? Sometimes, I go insane when I see guys saying they can’t do this or shouldn’t because it’s too late. Some of these guys are even in their twenties. This gets me so incredibly fired up because it’s insane! This is a loser mentality.

The truth is time is your most valuable resource, and we all have the same amount every single day. We all get 24 hours, and how you spend this time will indicate and dictate where you end up. But, having the mindset that it’s too late or just because you haven’t achieved something by a specific time frame that you shouldn’t go after is absolute insanity.

Unfortunately, a lot of men think this way. They believe they should have done something by 30, 40, 50, or whatever arbitrary age. Then they feel that they’re too old and it’s too late. This thinking holds you back and prevents you from doing something amazing. Just think about it: I was driving a beer cart when I was 30 years old. The worst part wasn’t being broke. The worst part was that I needed direction because I no longer had my north star. I was forced to think about how to reinvent myself at age 30. And this was right before the internet was a big thing. The majority of businesses were still brick-and-mortar at the time.

That being said, now has never been a better time to start a business. The barrier to entry has never been lower with the advent of the internet, and it doesn’t matter what age you are when you start. Time is such an arbitrary thing, and unfortunately, many men get into this mindset and think that because they’re older and something hasn’t happened, they shouldn’t try. But, as long as I’m alive, I have time.

The reality is that time doesn’t matter. Nobody’s guaranteed tomorrow, but how you spend those most incredibly precious 24 hours is up to you. You can spend them thinking and wishing that you had done something better, or you could use them to take action. For me, I choose action. If I die tomorrow, I know that I was doing something I wanted to do.

Just understand that it doesn’t matter what you’ve done before or what you haven’t done. Now is the time. The beautiful thing is as you get older, you’ll be more intelligent and have more experience. If I had the success I have now at age 20, I would be dead because I wouldn’t have been able to handle it. I’m incredibly thankful that success came when I was older after I experienced failures, as those experiences make you hungrier.

Every single day, I say the exact same thing when I wake up. Some people look in the mirror and say today will be excellent. I say, “Don’t f@#k it up today.” I’m very ultra-aware that success can go away in the blink of an eye. I worked my ass off and worked as hard as I possibly could to get where I am today. I’m thankful I’m happy, healthy, and prosperous.

I started a new community with The White Label Mpire, and I have guys aged 17 up to 70. These men are hungry and ready to learn. If I could go back to the younger Alpha, I would teach him what I know now, such as (1) do not worry about the failures and (2) failure doesn’t mean you suck. I would also tell young Alpha to embrace technology, change, and discomfort. If you can do these things, you’re so far ahead of the game.

I get so pissed off and upset when I hear young guys saying it’s too late for them. It’s only too late when you’re dead. But the sooner you start trying and throwing mud against the wall to see what sticks, the sooner you’ll be on the way to achieving something extraordinary. Conversely, I am equally perplexed at older guys who have thrown their hands up. I know it’s very cliche to say age is just a number, but if you care for yourself and your health, you can accomplish and achieve anything. The truth is (no matter what your age) once you start doing or going down that road of your passion and purpose, you’ll be excited and invigorated. You’ll feel more alive. Do not live a life of regret. Live a life of purpose and passion. Go after your dreams because regrets are for losers.

For older guys, you may hate the job that you’re in, or you’re in a dead-end career. Perhaps you’ve tried things before, and it sucked, or you failed. I know that can be devastating, but try again. Life can be challenging and painful when things don’t work out. Plus, you can get in your own head. But the question is: 5 years from now, what will you think if you never took the chance? How about 10 years from now? You will regret all the things that you didn’t do.

Life is about doing things that are in your heart and doing them even though the outcome is uncertain. Uncertainty is a beautiful thing. That’s why I’m so inspired by entrepreneurship, including my new venture, The White Label Mpire. The community is a supportive and uplifting group where we create and build together. Sure, we’re talking business, but we’re also uplifting and inspiring each other during times of change and uncertainty. The community has made me feel like I belong somewhere. I’m part of a bigger thing than me.

Never let your past failures dictate your future. Don’t allow how you grew up to dictate your future, either. Choose action and become the man you were destined to be. It could be scary, but there is still time. Many guys go with the flow by getting a job and living an average life. I would rather be broke doing something I love than having something I hate.

Sure, it’s embarrassing to tell your friends that something didn’t work out, and sure, entrepreneurship sucks sometimes. Living an average life is worse. I would rather swing for the fences and miss, strike out, or even get hit by the ball than never get up to bat. You don’t want to be just watching the game. When you take chances in life, you can look back and be thankful for those chances that you swung the bat and got up to the plate. 99% of people will never do it. 99% of men would rather stay comfortable, safe, and stuck. They would rather speculate and talk about it than actually go after it. So be the strong and brave 1% willing to pursue their dreams.

Push down the fear, the negative voice, and all of the toxic talk. This path will ultimately lead you to a fantastic, fulfilled, and successful life. Do you think for one second that all the wealthy people got wealthy because they decided to play it safe? Of course not. Do you think all of them got wealthy because they bet on Bitcoin? No. They got wealthy because they were willing to push down their fear and do something uncertain.

Life is short, and nothing’s guaranteed. But you can create a legacy. Do you want your legacy that you played it safe, or you were the guy that tried it once and just decided it wasn’t for him and didn’t try again? What do you want to be the guy who continues to put himself out there regardless? I know it’s always scary, but nothing is scarier than living an average life. It’s time for you to take control and do something extraordinary.
