As you know, the correct shoe can make an outfit look better. But on the flip side, the wrong shoe can break an outfit.
Today, I want to go over shoes that destroy – I’m talking about shoes that ruin your outfit, like an atomic bomb. Never think about wearing any of the ones I discuss today.
Don’t atomic bomb your look with any of these
- Fake leather. Burn them. If you don’t, they’ll melt anyway because they’re so bad. No matter if they’re boots, loafers, or any other type, don’t do it.
- Boat shoes. These look disgusting on everyone. Opt for something more minimalist, like a clean, classic, and sexy shoe. Take a look at my example in the video.
- Hybrid dress shoe. These are ‘action’ on the bottom and ‘dressed-up’ on the top. These offend my sensibilities as a stylish man, and they should offend yours as well. You’ll get zero action if you wear these shoes. They’re ugly as hell.
- Running shoes with anything other than athletic gear. If you do this, you’re looking like a dad. It’s terrible when you wear them with khakis, shorts, or jeans. Running shoes are not considered stylish, and they should not be worn outside of working out.
- Bulky/chunky, squared, or pointy. No matter what type of footwear, bulky/chunky shoes will make you look shorter and fatter. Square-toed shoes are from the 1990s and terrible. Also, super pointy shoes shouldn’t even be a consideration.
- Stinky shoes. These are a deal-breaker for women, and you should discard them. If a shoe emits a smell when heated up after being worn, discard it. The same thing can happen with flip-flops. With shoes, you can prevent odor by keeping them dry and preventing moisture from building bacteria. However, with flip-flops, you need an odor shield, such as a Thompson Tee. They solved the problem with sweating through dress shirts, and now they have flip-flops with cutting-edge technology that are clean and minimalist. They smell amazing and are perfect for summer.
- Dirty sneakers. Make sure you wear clean shoes. Use a Magic Eraser to remove scuffs and dirt. A simple sponge with Dawn detergent may also suffice. Replace your laces periodically when they become dirty and discolored. This goes for your dress shoes as well. Many men spend time cleaning their dress shoes but neglect to replace the laces. It’s quick and easy to do.
- Dad’s sandals. There’s nothing worse than Velcro dad sandals.
- HEYDUDEs and TOMS. HEYDUDEs are slip-on and comfortable, but they’re ugly. They’re probably the worst shoes I’ve ever seen. TOMS are gross. They also stink and make you look like a dirty hippie.
- Shoes that show nasty toes. If your toes are fugly or you’re not responsible with your feet, you should not be showing them off whether or not your heels are super cracked, you have thick calluses, or your nails are too long. Your feet and toenails should not be thick, discolored, or calloused. If you need treatments or help from a podiatrist, get your feet under control. They can treat fungus, use laser treatments, and offer additional services.
