Today’s video is for those of you who are tired of having a soft, swollen, puffy-looking face. Fat is not always the reason for this appearance. Other reasons are inflammation, bloating, and water retention. You can quickly minimize these for a more chiseled, angular face.
You don’t need better generics, but you do need to be consistent with the steps I’m about to share. Exercise, eat right, drink enough water, sleep properly, and cut out crappy food. Your face can quickly transform from chubby little cheeks to a defined, sexy stallion with a razor-sharp jaw.
I’m going to cover common reasons why a face may look fat, puffy, or bloated. I also want to talk about specific tricks to eliminate roundness and make your face more defined. I also want to talk about visual tricks you can use to give your face a more defined look, including style and grooming.
Common reasons for a round and chubby face
- Water retention. A face can hold water after a bad meal or if dehydrated. A high-sodium or high-carbohydrate diet can make your face look chubby.
- Inflammation. A bad diet can cause inflammation. Using seed oils or sugar can cause this.
- Fat. Gaining weight can make your face look bigger.
- Not enough sleep. If you’re not sleeping enough, your cortisol levels can rise, leading to puffiness.
- Slow lymphatic drainage. If you’re not experiencing good circulation or moving, your lymphatic system will drain more slowly, and your face will show it.
Here’s how to fix a puffy face.
- Fast flush hydration protocol. Drink 20-30 oz of water upon waking up. Add a pinch of sea salt for electrolytes and a squeeze of lemon.
- Sodium sugar swap. Reduce the amount of sodium and sugar you’re consuming. When you eat high-salt, processed foods, and a lot of carbohydrates, your body will retain water like a sponge. Sugar and sodium together promote water retention and inflammation, which can lead to puffiness in your face. Eliminate it.
- Exercise. If you lose 5 to 10 lb, you’ll notice it in your face.
- Sweat. Get into a sauna, engage in low-intensity cardio, and/or wear sweatshirts or jackets to make yourself sweat. Combine this with proper hydration, of course.
- Cold exposure massage. Using a cold implement, such as an ice roller or an ice cube, massage your face to shrink pores, dilate capillaries, and reduce eye puffiness. With a bit of pressure, drain some subcutaneous fluid as well. Combine this with a lymphatic jaw massage. Look at my demonstration in the video.
- Get solid slumber. Your face will give you away if you’re not getting enough sleep. Cortisol levels will go up, which increases inflammation and puffiness. Make sleep a priority, which will immediately show on your face. Sleeping on your stomach can cause excess fluid to accumulate in your face. Flip over. Also, elevate your head slightly with a pillow.
Tricks to create illusions of a more defined face and jaw
- Hairstyle. Do not have a flat or soft hairstyle. Receding hair also rounds out a face. Make the sides shorter and add a little lift to the top. Lifting your hair and getting it tight will draw the eyes down.
- Facial hair. Full and round beards that are not tapered or angular will make your face look chubby. Go a bit shorter on the sides and taper it to the chin to elongate the face. Make facial hair more angular and structured-looking. Do not have hair growing up your jaw, because it softens the face. Watch my demonstration on how to shave.
- Sideburns. You also need sideburns—ensure they are angled to draw the eye down.
- Mustache. If you wear a mustache, add a soul patch underneath to draw the eye down.
- Henley’s and V-necks. These types of shirts will draw the eye down.
