Curtis has been using dating apps such as Bumble and Hinge for the past few years. He’s been on many dates but has difficulty getting a second date, or they will ghost him. He wants to improve at talking with girls and being more confident around them. He wants to approach better and have conversations that turn into second, third, and fourth dates. He also has superb confidence with people in general, but when he’s super attracted to a girl, his confidence goes out the window.
Marni and I will make Curtis look amazing with a makeover and a new outfit. We will also give him some confidence coaching and tips for his hot blind date so he can test everything out.
After getting to know Curtis briefly, I assessed what he was wearing. He looks like a middle-aged dad sitting on the couch bored out of his mind. We can do better with sneakers, jeans, and shirts. Also, I will take him for a haircut to tighten the sides, strengthen his jaw, and define his face.
Out in the Field
Salon Posta is ensuring Curtis’s hair looks straight for his date tonight. The length is good, and he has a lot of fullness from his wavy hair. We’re tightening up on the sides and back. With his facial hair, we’re leaving the length on the chin and tapering it to make his jaw look super strong.
Marni coaches Curtis while he’s in the chair at Salon Posta. She talks about flirting and being bold. When he’s online, he dates for himself, but when he’s in person, he dates for them. The scarcity mindset is his biggest issue, and Marni talks about how he needs to change this. She also talks about the importance of touching, a handshake with a touch, and hugging.
The next stop is Suit Supply because they have the best casual clothing in the business. We find an outstanding long-sleeve polo shirt along with some white minimal stinkers. The next stop is Bloomingdale’s for an All-Saints jacket that fits him like a glove. Then we hit up Banana Republic for some amazing dark navy jeans.
Marni checks out his dating profile. It’s an amazing profile but inconsistent with how he presents himself. Marni will work with him to get to that online confident guy in person faster. Check out Marni’s free course to grab some of your own tips.
Back at the Office
After shopping, we returned to the office for more dating advice from Marni. Advice is given on where to go for a first date and how to set up a second date at the end of the first date. Marni also covers specific don’ts on the first and second dates.
Check out his new outfits. One of the outfits starts off with white minimal sneakers, slim-fit dark Navy jeans, a long-sleeve Merino wool Polo, and a suede All Saints bomber jacket. He elevated his fragrance grain with Pete & Pedro REBEL; he smells amazing!
Blind Date
He goes out on his blind date. He and Katie have drinks and conversation. Afterward, she gave her review to Marni and me. She said it was really pleasant and surprised how the conversation was. She said he was a little shy, and she had to ask many questions that he fed off of. She needs him to bring the energy and spice so she doesn’t always have to take the lead. She gave him a strong 7.5 overall.
He thought the date went well, too. Marni and I gave him Katie’s feedback. To be fair, Katie has so much personality that she can be intimidating. She has a lot of energy and is very passionate, which can be almost overbearing for some people. Perhaps if Curtis’s date had a bit lower energy, his energy could have been brought up. That’s just something for him to pay attention to.
Curtis reviews the entire experience, which he feels was a dream come true. He says that the advice that Marni and I gave him was information that every guy should hear. He appreciates Marni’s tips on presenting himself and that the outfit I styled is one that a man cannot go wrong with.
