Big, bold, pastel colors are in for summer men’s shorts: light blue, yellow, purple, salmon. For the record, salmon is peach-ish orange with a sprinkling of dusty rose. Aaron Marino of alpha m. describes shopping for shorts and the desire to step out of your box. Your ego is pumped by the sales associate, and you buy those salmon colored shorts. But you have no idea what to wear with them once you get home.
These color schemes and applications will work with all of the pastels. Note that if you go with a darker shirt, make sure to pair with darker shoes (i.e. flip flops, fashion sneakers, Chucks, black loafers):
- SUPER CASUAL Kicking it off, the most versatile shirt is the simple white tee shirt. It’s the most casual of option, whether v-neck or crew neck. Black also works and matches well.
- LITTLE DRESSIER You can also wear a fitted, button-up, short sleeved white or pale blue shirt. You can go navy, gray, or denim too.
- DRESS SHIRTS Take a dress shirt and combine it with the shorts as a great summer look.
