Watches are the greatest accessory a man can wear. It tells the world he is reliable, responsible, and stylish.
But on the flip side, if a man is wearing the wrong watch, it can make him look like a dork or a tool. It could even make him look like your weird Uncle Barry. Here are watches that you should never wear.
Ditch these timepiece duds
- Huge watches. Monstrous watches are a big ‘no’. Swole watches were gigantic, monstrous, cheap, and super ornate, making men look like enormous douches. Other watches are equally as big and make a man look a bit silly. Don’t go bigger than 44 mm, but really, it depends on your wrist size. If you have a larger wrist, you can get away with a larger watch than someone with a smaller wrist. Check out my demonstration.
- Fakes. Never ever buy a fake watch; they look stupid. Some counterfeits are incredibly dialed in and almost perfect, but it’s not worth it. Some people can tell, and that’s embarrassing. There are too many amazing and badass watch brands out there for you to wear something fake. Watch brands like Timex, Seiko, and Aura won’t break the bank. Each is designed with premium materials, and the styling is incredible.
- Loose and dangly. If your watch is hanging down on your hand, it doesn’t fit right. Make sure your watch is above your wrist bone. It needs to be snug enough so it doesn’t roll or flip around. If it is, it looks like you’re wearing a bracelet. You also don’t want it too tight.
- Tech / Apple. A tech watch is not a digital watch. Digital watches depend upon your situation and aesthetic. A lot of the G-Shocks and Casios are cool. But if you’re getting dressed up or entering a professional environment, you don’t want to wear a digital watch. Tech watches are Apple Watches or any type that you can get text messages on. They’re functional and can do cool things, but so does your phone. Wearing tech like this on your wrist is a recipe for looking zero stylish. If you want to wear it on your run, fine. But don’t ever wear it otherwise, especially when dressing up.
- Fashion. Watch brands like Michael Kors, Armani, and Levi’s are fashion watches. Better options are out there, such as Timex and Casio. Some Seikos are under $100, and they’re great watches. They’re a much better option than matching your watch to your shirt or shoes.
- Blinged and iced. These types of watches are screaming to look at you. They make you look like you have zero taste but a lot of money. They also make you look super cheap. Some soccer players and celebrities are wearing them, but don’t. It’s not a good look.
